DOWNLOAD SONG HERE>>>>Typing What I’m Thinking To Everyone Reading

Even though this is another Twitter song, unlike Tweetaholic it’s not comedy, and I feel it represents what I can do as a musician/producer better than the quick comedic knock-offs you might have heard. It’s also using an “insider’s view” lyrical device , so the people who appreciate the history of twitter will really get it, but your average listener? I don’t know.

Actually I think it is as much about the four founders of Twitter (for some reason my hands really wanted to type “Founding Fathers” there. Weird, I know.):

Jack Dorsey
Jack Dorsey
Noah Glass
Noah Glass
Biz Stone
Biz Stone
Evan Williams
Evan Williams

Anyway here are the lyrics:

Typing What I’m Thinking To Everyone Reading

Do you know Jack?
Do you know Noah?
Do you know Biz?
Do you know Evan?

Odeodeodeo it’s obvious…it’s obvious
Odeodeodeo it’s obvious…it’s obvious

Don’t tell me what you’re having for dinner
’cause I don’t care
Don’t tell me that you’re bored so bored because I’m
I’m already there

Typing What I’m Thinking To Everyone Reading
It is stranger than fiction it is everywhere…it’s everywhere

Shakespeare would tweet about love and death and kings
Freud would blame your mom for everything
It’s obvious…it’s obvious

Edison would ask you if you have seen the light
Timothy Leary would say it’s out of sight
It’s obvious…it’s obvious

Don’t tell me what you’re having for dinner
’cause I don’t care
Don’t tell me that you’re bored so bored because I’m
I’m already there

Typing What I’m Thinking To Everyone Reading
It is stranger than fiction it is everywhere…it’s everywhere

Here’s the wikipedia about Twitter for more info about our “Founding Fathers”.
* I have also heard from reliable sources [citation needed] that they occasionally get together and drink loads of Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters: here is the recipe for that improbable drink:

“Take the juice from one bottle of that Ol’ Janx Spirit.
Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V
Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (it must be properly iced or the benzene is lost).
Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it (in memory of all those happy Hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia).
Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark Qualactin Zones.
Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian suns deep into the heart of the drink.
Sprinkle Zamphour.
Add an olive.
Drink…but very carefully.”

UPDATE: Today’s XKCD is TOO appropriate – it’s like I’m psychically connected to events and peoples today wtf (theme to twilight zone plays…)

P.S. Thanks Chris Pirillo for tweeting about it, it’s already been downloaded over 1000 times (in 6 hours!) and is #2 on Tweetmeme (audio)

Obama Song: America is a place where all things are possible

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I took voice snippets of Obama from his audio book and speeches and put together this song:

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way – I think Barack Obama is the best thing to ever happen for the U.S.A.

Electric Man (song)

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

My friends are kind of giving me hell because of all the attention the Twitter song is receiving, and they’ve been urging me to put up another song from the Electric Man album that is very popular:

DOWNLOAD SONG HERE >>>> Electric Man.mp3

*Note: If you are using Internet Exploder, right-click the link to the mp3 and choose “Save Target As”. Otherwise Media Player (or Winamp) will just stream the song.

Attention all intelligent lifeforms....please respond to the beacon....please respond....

Another song off that album that is very popular is Car Program.

All of the Dave Ryder music available in the downloads section (and there is a lot of really cool music there) is, and always will be, FREE. Thanks everybody for all the kind feedback I’ve been receiving :)

Chris Pirillo posts “The Twitter Song” on Youtube

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Yay the ever awesome Chris Pirillo posted about the Tweetaholic song on Youtube – he is hilarious! Here it is:

Also I’m trying to get my youtube channel going a bit, I started one a while back but then just completely neglected it – anyway it’s RydersTube, and yes I would like it if everyone watched my tube, I’m just funny that way :rotate:

BTW people are already making some videos, you can check ‘em out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU9ezpVYpIg and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoofiIHFAew

Thanks everyone, I know it’s just a ridiculously stupid song, but I guess a lot of people are getting a good laugh out of it.

Bit Torrent possible meltdown

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

soon to be piece of shit torrent?
As my readers may remember, I decided a short while ago not to offer my songs as torrents, for several reasons. Even though at the time I was criticized for being a bit premature about this, it seems I was right:

Operators of The Pirate Bay stand trial on Monday in Stockholm. The four defendants from the popular file-sharing web site are charged with being accessories to breaking copyright law and may face fines or up to two years in prison if found guilty. This will in all probability shut down Pirate Bay, which leads us inexorably to this:

Researchers at Delft University warn that large parts of the BitTorrent network might collapse if The Pirate Bay is forced to shut down. A large part of the available torrents use The Pirate Bay as tracker, and other available trackers will probably be overloaded if all traffic is shifted there. The Pirate Bay is currently using eight servers for their trackers. According to the researchers, even trackerless torrents using the DHT protocol will face problems: “One bug in a DHT sorting routine ensures that it can only “stumble upon success”, meaning torrent downloads will not start in seconds or minutes if Pirate Bay goes down in flames.”

So who’s right now, bitches? I mean, what would piss a fan off more in the world than to be told songs are available here via bit torrent, only to be denied? And as I stated before, with the widespread proliferation of broadband bit torrent simply isn’t necessary to download song files – hell, by the time a person fires up a tracker he/she could have already downloaded it from this rock solid location that will ALWAYS be right here, with our songs nicely organized on our downloads page.

PS even though this XKCD is pro torrent, I still loved it at the time for it’s cutting edgeness – get it? they’ve got swords?…nevermind…

Computer Go Bung REMIX

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

My friend Paul and I did this a long time ago, but it never really caught on. Then I boosted the vocals and basically did a complete remix, and now it seems to be having a resurgence in popularity :)

DOWNLOAD HERE>> Computer Go Bung.mp3

Dam it feels good to be a gangsta! (BTW, this video doesn’t have anything to do with PC Go Bung, it’s just funny and represents PC frustration, represent. Vista suxors vexat, unless it is the Vista Cruiser.)

Tweetaholics – You know who you are!

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Are you a Tweetaholic? Then listen to this song! (Internet Exploder users right-click and choose “save target as” – Firefox users you already know you have your shit together):

Tweetaholic.mp3

BTW here’s my twitter profile: http://twitter.com/daveryder

This song was inspired by a suggestion made to me by the hawesome Chris Pirillo of Lockergnome fame – Thanks Chris you completely rock!
Chris Pirillo is one of the coolest mofo's walking the face of the planet

Anyway, I can totally visualize a video to it:

  • Remember when Tweety Bird drank the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde formula and turned into a 250lb monster bird and Sylvester freaked his shit? That’s the “feeding the monster part”.
  • And I can see a wife with the green lotion face and curlers bitching when Tweety says “oooooh I’m scared!!”
  • I guess the end is the Twitter Police – (that would be The Man coming down on the poor twitterer with the pimp hand of the law -smack!)
  • So just kind of hinting around that it would be way cool if somebody with teh mad video skillz put something like that together :)

P.S. Sorry about the ads, my bandwidth bill is going through the roof! So if you can click an ad or make a donation it would make me very super crazy happy :p

Gnomedex Theme Songs for Chris Pirillo

    Monday, February 9th, 2009

Every year, Chris Pirillo hosts Gnomedex, a technology conference tailored to technology and blogging enthusiasts. Quite a while back, when podcasting was the new hip thing, I asked him if he needed a theme song for his podcasts, and if he would be interested in having me try to make him something. So he said to send him something, and if he liked it he might use it.

Well, he loved it (yay) and I kind of forgot about it until the other day, when I started following him on twitter, and I thought, “hmmmm, I wonder if he needs music for Gnomedex?” and he said to send him something and if he liked it he might use it.

So I knocked out these 2 songs about Gnomedex:

  • The first song was kind of inspired by two things: Bob Marleys birthday (February 6th) and the movie Goundhogs Day – I’m kind of visualizing somebody waking up and repeating a day over and over, and everyday he’s at Gnomedex – only unlike the movie it’s a GOOD thing:
    Gnomedex
  • The second song is more technogeek in nature, and needs no interpretation :) :
    Gnomedex II
  • I noticed, however, when compared to the podcast theme song I did for him a long time ago that they are all very dissimilar, which may be a good thing, I’ll just have to see what he thinks.

BTW, here is the old theme song:
    Pirillo

Here is a photograph of the LockerGnome himself – thanks for all your support Chris!
Do you need some help? Do you need a hand? Something to understand: Pirillo is The Man!

    WordPress Redemption Song Plugin

    Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Bob Marley’s birthday was February 6th, and I spent the morning working and listening to Uprising, and thinking about my own mortality which I frequently find myself doing when I listen to Bob Marley, especially his last album (they say he knew he was sick during the making of Uprising, and it is painfully obvious to me, anyway).
Old pirates yes they rob I
Then I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be cool if, instead of the lyrics to Hello, Dolly, my WordPress dashboard displayed the Redemption Song lyrics?”

So I hax0red Matt Mullenweg’s Hello, Dolly plugin all up and shizzit and decided to post it (after all, I had already changed the CSS to position it properly with WordPress 2.7, and changed the text from red to light blue), so here it is:

    redemption.phps

    Installation and Implementation:

    1. Place the redemption.phps file into your /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
    2. Change the file extension from “.phps” to “.php”.
    3. Activate the plugin from the WordPress admin panel.

[Matt, besides being the co-creator of WordPress at the age of 19, is a pretty amazing guy for a number of other reasons: In March 2007 he was named #16 of the 50 Most Important People on the Web by PC World, reportedly the youngest on the list.

In October 2007 Mullenweg acquired the Gravatar service and was rumored to have turned down a $200 million offer to buy his company Automattic - Jesus Christ the guy is 25 years old.]

Here are pictures of the Uprising album cover and Matt:

    The Roadkill Report

    Thursday, February 5th, 2009

I drive Dittmer Catawissa Rd. almost everyday, and everyday I have to slow down so I don’t hit a squirrel or a rabbit. Sometimes I have to hit my brakes HARD*, but I don’t mind – I like the wildlife, even the idiot tree-rats (which is what my pops used to call squirrels) who sometimes just suicidally leap directly into traffic, completely oblivious to cars on their nut-gathering missions. Kamikaze!

my route is in red, which is appropriate

I think if the drivers out here would just slow down, and pay attention to the wildlife preparing to do some crazy-ass shit from the non-existent shoulders of these 2 lane blacktop roads, then a lot of poor bunnies and squirrels could be saved (not to mention the occasional deer that WILL fuck up your grill and/or fender).

But unfortunately I see dead carcasses flattened every day, so I decided to start The Roadkill Report (on Dittmer-Catawissa Road). Everyday I will twitter the number and type of roadkill I see, and how many I kill, just to prove a point, which is:

If you try just a little, a LOT of pointless animal deaths could be prevented. :rotate:

    So far the count is:
roadkills: about 1000 – animal deaths I’ve caused: zero

But for the sake of accuracy, we’ll start over, 0-0

Anyway, here’s what google images turned up for a search of “dead squirrel” (I included the last one because there is no way in hell that dog caught that squirrel – I bet anything he found it on a road):

    * I would like to point out that of course I wouldn’t slam my brakes if someone was following me closely, even though I hate tailgaters. The population is so sparse here in Catawissa, I sometimes make the drive without even seeing another car! There are definite benefits to living in the sticks.
