Speed fix for Samsung 128GB BAR (METAL) USB 3.0 Flash Drive

I recently purchased this cool 128GB usb 3.0 stick from Amazon: some of the great features: it’s sleek metal keyring design, and it is Water proof, Shock proof, magnet proof, temp proof, and X-ray proof with a 5-year warranty. What’s not to like?

However, I was peeved at first with the slow transfer speeds, but after a little research I found out how to fix it for BLAZING speed: the basic problem is it comes pre-formatted as Fat32. Re-format it as NTSF, and you go from 12-16 MBps to 70s+. A word of warning, this speed fix is for windows users only apparently, it reportedly causes some problems for some mac users, having to do with Apple’s Time Machine software. Just thought I’d pass this on – oh, and also make sure your HD isn’t set for automatically assigned quick removal volume (it is default on a lot of windows installs) – go into your hard drive properties, right click and choose the “Better Performance” radio button and enable write-caching policy. This speeds things up, BUT there is a danger of loosing data if you experience a power failure, or are in the habit of just pulling your USB stick out without clicking the ‘Safely remove hardware’ icon in your tray (something I’ve been guilty of for years until recently). Anyway, hope this helps someone out :) and here is a pic, you’ll see what I mean about the cool look:
