Egg                   - by Dave Ryder

When I saw the blue
Fade away
I felt a twist inside
Phantom pain*

I strained to glimpse her
One last time

But she was too far in the distance

Buried in black sky

"The Earth was small, light blue, and so touchingly alone, our home that must be defended like a holy relic. The Earth was absolutely round. I believe I never knew what the word round meant until I saw Earth from space."

- Aleksei Leonov

* "Phantom pain" occurs when an amputee feels pain in the extremity or limb that is no longer there. In this instance, Vincent's entire body has been effectively amputated, hence the use of the term: he feels an almost physical pain at the sight of the Earth receding away, which is entirely possible as the severed nerve endings attempt to send and receive signals to the missing body.
