but seriously, Swansongs are often haunting masterpieces. My favorite example is Sonny Sharrocks “Ask The Ages” album. It’s one of my top fav albums of all albums. Truly haunting. There is no other sound like it, ever, anywhere. I mention it because Dave Ryders playing often reminds me of Sonny Sharrocks. Last week
when we were together I think I even told Dave to “Sharrock” out when we were talking about a piece of music (at the time I remember Dave did’nt really catch what I had said, the conversion never skipped a beat and we moved on without me explaining what I had said…)
EVERY GUITAR PLAYER NEEDS TO HEAR SONNY SHARROCK, and specifically the “Ask The Ages” album. (some of his albums are real stinkers so make sure it’s “ask the ages” that you listen to). Elvin Jones plays drums on thae album – that should tell you something.
Have I mentioned how much I like Sonny Sharrock?
