I check my website on FireFox and IE 6, and even occasionally went to lixlpixel Safari Screenshot Generator (although not recently, to be honest – and now it no longer works, but I used to go there a lot to test webpages in Safari).
I thought everything was hunky dory tra-la-la-la-la and that my website was displaying fine across all web browsers, and the sun was shining and the birds were singing in this beautiful world of togetherness that browser developers share….
My website was so fucked up on so many browsers that almost 33% of my visitors were seeing some horrific looking shit straight out of a freak show. Well, how embarrassing.
Fortunately there is a very cool online tool called Browsershots that allows you to test for compatibility in just about every browser there is.This from the website:
Browsershots makes screenshots of your web design in different browsers. It is a free open-source online service created by Johann C. Rocholl. When you submit your web address, it will be added to the job queue. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server here.
So check it out and use it to check out your pages, or you will be the online tool.
And BTW, if you’re not using FireFox, then I have to ask “well, why the hell not”? You know it’s what you should be doing so just go get it already.
